Job Confirmed

Kia Ora!

I just wanted to follow-up to a previous post to say that my job offer has been confirmed. I start work at NZ Police National Headquarters' Office of the Commissioner, as a Research Analyst, on the 5th of November, 2007. (Very ominous to be starting so close to Parliament on Guy Fawkes day.) Still no word on Eric's job options yet, but will keep you posted.

Take care, Love, Linda

So... how's your first few days been at the new job?

Really good. I like the people, the work will be challenging - but it looks like they need an extra person to do it all, and studying police tactical options can be pretty interesting. The only problem is the open-plan layout of the office. It makes it easier for everyone to have natural light from the high-rise windows, but it makes it really hard to concentrate on reading, writing and analyzing. So, for the first few months I have scheduled to work at home every Tuesday - just for reading background materials; and, on Wednesdays I will be out at the Royal NZ Police College, where I can work more privately with a woman who has been doing much of the same work for a long time. They are also giving me a laptop that I can take wherever I need to go to work more comfortably. I am sure it will work out. I have a very supportive and sensitive boss.
